Richard "2Rude" Coombs has been instrumental in revolutionizing Canadian urban music. Born in Toronto, Canada and raised in Jamaica, D.C. and New York, this producer, performer, songwriter and businessman consistently covers all angles of the music industry with his multi-talented scope.

 

2Rude's 2007 release Rudimental2K broke ground in Canada, going platinum four times over (including compilations) and launching the careers of many successful artists. The popularity of this album solidified the presence of urban music in Canada. Not only have album sales represented the success of 2Rude's career, but he has been honored with various nominations and awards including Canada's highly respected Juno Awards, Much Music, Indies and Urban Music Awards.

 

His creative genius has garnered him experience with such artists as Glenn Lewis, Pharohe Monch, K-OS, Saukrates, Jully Black, In Essence, Goodie Mob, Smooth Da Hustler and many more. Most recently, 2Rude reintroduced his unique talent by creating a new niche in hit remixes, which includes the reggae remix to Keisha Chante's "Bad Boy" and the Rudimaican remix to Esthero's "Fastlane" both featuring Shakari Nyte. He also solidified his hold in the Hip Hop scene providing hits for the artists Jelleestone ("Rude Riddim") and Eternia's ("Hate") on their current albums. 2Rude's production skills are also prevalent in a wide range of popular TV shows including America's Next Top Model, Pimp My Ride, Punk'ed and more.

 

Constantly reinventing himself, 2Rude is a force to be reckoned with in the global urban music scene. With a new focus on Rudimental Records, established in 1997, 2Rude is reinventing a new era in Canadian urban music.
